I designed a tailor-made Jordan tour of 13 days as a private trip: from Roman Jerash and Amman to the Dead Sea, two nights in Dana with the Wadi Dana hike, two full days in Petra, a night in Wadi Rum and the Red Sea at Aqaba, by rental car or with a private driver. But I am being straightforward with you: this trip is on hold and cannot be booked.
The Belgian FPS Foreign Affairs (update 23 July 2026) strongly advises against non-essential travel to Jordan and advises against all travel to the south, including Petra, Wadi Rum and Aqaba. I will only take bookings once the travel advice allows it. Until then, you can join the interest list and I will let you know.
At a glance

- Type of trip: fully arranged, tailor-made private trip, just for you (couple, family or friends)
- Recommended length: 13 days; shorter or longer is possible (8 to 16 days)
- Start: any day you like, once the trip can run again
- Transport: self-drive with a rental car, or a private driver
- Three levels: Budget, Comfort and Premium
- Indicative price: from €1,310 pp excluding flight, based on 2 travellers; flight approx. €310–630 pp, not included, depending on the month
- Best months (advice): March, April, May, September, October, November
- Always included: airport pickup, hotels with breakfast, the Jordan Pass, a personal intake meeting, a WhatsApp line with the founder and a personal 24/7 number
- Guide: by default you travel without a guide; prefer a guide? I can add a local guide to any activity.
- Meals: breakfast is included, and so are the meals in Dana and at the Wadi Rum desert camp, where there is no alternative. For the rest I give you my restaurant tips and you choose freely where you eat.
All prices are indicative desk-research estimates; you receive a tailor-made quote.
What does a tailor-made Jordan tour cost?
Indicative price per person, based on 2 travellers, excluding the international flight:
| Level | Self-drive | Private driver |
|---|---|---|
| Budget | €1,310 | €1,930 |
| Comfort | €1,560 | €2,200 |
| Premium | €2,200 | €2,830 |
With four travellers you pay about 15% less per person, because you share the vehicle. Travelling solo, allow for a supplement of about 60%. When self-driving you pay fuel and parking locally (indicative ± €160 per car for the whole route). These are estimates from before the trip was put on hold and will be recalculated.
Why the trip is on hold
In February 2026, strikes in the region and Iranian retaliation included targets in Jordan. The FPS responded with its current advice, and warns that airspace can close suddenly. Most of the route's highlights lie in the south, exactly where all travel is advised against. Selling a trip against that advice would not be responsible, and most travel insurance would not cover you. That applies to self-drive as much as to travel with a driver.
Best time to travel (once it's possible)
Spring and autumn are ideal. Summer (June to August) is very hot in Petra and Wadi Rum. The Siq Trail in Wadi Mujib, where you wade through a gorge to a waterfall, is only open from April to the end of October. Flash floods are possible in the wadis all year round.
The planned route and why it runs this way
Everything below is arranged for you in advance.

The route runs north to south. I buy your Jordan Pass in advance and tell you what to do at passport control; your private driver waits outside the arrivals hall at Amman airport. On day 2 your rental car is delivered to the hotel, or your driver is ready, and you head north to Roman Jerash, Ajloun and Umm Qais, then spend a day in Amman itself on foot. Via Madaba and Mount Nebo you reach the Dead Sea, and then Wadi Mujib. Following the historic King's Highway past Karak castle, you arrive in Dana for two nights. The next day you walk 14–16 km down Wadi Dana towards Feynan, from the cool plateau to the red desert; a local 4x4 and your driver, or a taxi, bring you back up to Dana.
From Dana you continue via Shobak castle and Little Petra to Wadi Musa for two full days in Petra at your own pace, including the climb to the Monastery. Then Wadi Rum by 4x4 and a night under the stars in a Bedouin camp, and finally Aqaba for snorkelling, before the drive back up the Desert Highway to the airport.

Self-drive or private driver?
Self-drive. In normal times Jordan is an easy country to drive yourself: good roads, signposts in English and short distances, and you drive on the right. Your rental car (full insurance with zero excess) is delivered to your hotel in Amman on day 2 and returned at the airport on day 13. Fuel and parking are paid locally (indicative ± €160 per car for the whole route; there are no toll roads). Watch out for speed bumps, busy Amman traffic and police checkpoints, and do not drive the King's Highway after dark. In Wadi Rum the car stays at the village. While the trip is on hold, self-drive cannot be booked either.

Private driver. One dedicated English-speaking private driver takes you from day 2 to the airport in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle. He knows the King's Highway and the best stops, waits while you visit or walk and is there at Feynan after the Wadi Dana hike. Fuel and his accommodation are included. He is a driver, not a guide; if you would like a guide somewhere, I arrange one for you.
What I arrange for you

- Airport: On arrival at Queen Alia International Airport in Amman your private driver waits for you outside the arrivals hall with a name sign and takes you to your hotel. I buy your Jordan Pass in advance and tell you what to do at passport control. On the last day you are dropped at the same airport (or return your rental car there).
- Meals: breakfast every day, plus the meals in Dana and at the Wadi Rum desert camp. For the rest you get my restaurant tips, such as the cooking class in Wadi Musa, but you choose where you eat.
- Possible guided moments: a local guide in Jerash, a food walk with a guide in Amman, an RSCN guide for Wadi Dana or a licensed guide for your first morning in Petra. Prefer a guide? I can add a local guide to any activity.
- Personal follow-up: an intake meeting at your home or by video, a WhatsApp line with me before and during the trip, a personal 24/7 number and a follow-up call once you are home.
- Your route, your way: shorter (8 days): Amman – Dead Sea – Petra – Wadi Rum – Amman, without the north, Dana and Aqaba; more nature: a night at Feynan Ecolodge after the Wadi Dana hike (Premium); more desert: two nights in Wadi Rum with a day trip by camel or on foot; more beach: extra nights in Aqaba or at the Dead Sea.
Practical tips (for later)
- Visa (Belgian passport): visa on arrival or e-visa (40 JOD). With the Jordan Pass, which is included and which I buy for you in advance, and a stay of at least 2 whole nights (3 days), the fee is waived (source: jordanpass.jo FAQ). Passport valid 6 months.
- Health: no mandatory vaccinations. Keep routine vaccines up to date and consider hepatitis A. Check wanda.be or your GP.
- Money: Jordanian dinar. Cash needed in Dana and Wadi Rum.
- Driving: you drive on the right, signs are in English too and there are no toll roads. An international driving permit is recommended.
- Flights: about 4h30 direct Brussels–Amman.
- Fitness: the Wadi Dana hike (14–16 km, about 1,200 m descent) and the Monastery climb are moderate; shorter options are always possible.
Travel advice
The current advice from the FPS Foreign Affairs strongly discourages non-essential travel to Jordan and advises against all travel to the south and east. Read the latest update on diplomatie.belgium.be. I follow that advice and do not sell this trip until it changes.
