I arrange this route from Cape Town to Gqeberha in full for you as a 16-day private trip, entirely malaria-free. You start at Table Mountain and Cape Point, taste wine in Franschhoek and look for the Big Five in a private reserve on Route 62. From Oudtshoorn you drive over the Swartberg Pass, and along the Garden Route you walk in Knysna, among the primates of Monkeyland and the birds of Birds of Eden and at the Storms River Mouth.

Highlights

  • Table Mountain, the Bo-Kaap and the penguins of Boulders Beach on the Cape Peninsula
  • Wine tasting in Franschhoek, with the Wine Tram between the estates
  • Two nights in a private game reserve on Route 62, with game drives in an open vehicle
  • The gravel Swartberg Pass to Prince Albert and the Cango Caves
  • Knysna, the primates of Monkeyland, the birds of Birds of Eden and the suspension bridge at the Storms River Mouth
  • Elephants in Addo, a safari in Amakhala and the buffalo of Kragga Kamma

What I will arrange for you after launch

  • Pickup at the arrival airport and the transfer on your last day; the details are in the brochure.
  • All hotels and guesthouses, booked in advance at the level you choose: Budget, Comfort or Premium.
  • Transport on the ground: a rental car waiting for you (self-drive) or a private driver and private transfers. Domestic flights and trains where that makes sense.
  • The activities and entrance fees on the route. Prefer a guide? I can add a local guide to any activity.
  • Breakfast, and the meals at remote places with no alternative (such as a safari lodge, desert camp or yurt camp). For the other meals I give you my restaurant recommendations, but you choose completely freely where you eat.
  • A personal intake, at your home or by video call.
  • A WhatsApp line, before and during your trip, and my personal 24/7 number.
  • A call-back after your trip.
  • Your international flight from Brussels: after launch I'm happy to book it for you, or you book it yourself. Prices on the site exclude the flight.

Travel whenever you like

Your dates are completely free: there are no fixed departure dates, you leave on the day that suits you. My recommended route takes 16 days. Shorter or longer is possible too; I adapt the route.

The months I recommendPossible too, let us discuss

This is advice, not a rule. If you want to travel in another month, I tell you honestly what to expect (rain, heat, crowds) and adapt the route.

Flight

After launch I'm happy to book your flight for you, or you book it yourself.

Flight to Cape Town, returning from Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) via Johannesburg or Cape Town, not included. I am happy to book the flight for you, or you book it yourself.

Travelling responsibly

You stay in small, locally owned guesthouses and lodges and travel in one vehicle for your own party, without a domestic flight. Amakhala is a reserve where farming families returned their land to nature; the SANParks fees go to conservation. Monkeyland takes in primates rescued from captivity. If you choose a guide, I arrange someone from the area, paid per activity.
