Frequently asked questions
Can I book already?
Not yet. Steennot Travels is in formation. Until the legally required insolvency insurance is in force, I do not sell trips and do not accept bookings, options or payments. You can put yourself on the list, free of obligation: you pay nothing and no price or date is fixed. At launch you will be the first to receive a no-obligation proposal.
What happens to my details on the list?
I only use them to contact you about the launch and a no-obligation trip proposal, and only with your consent. You can ask to be removed at any time by emailing info@steennot-travels.be. More in the privacy policy.
What makes you different from a classic tour?
Freedom. You do not travel in a group but only with the people you choose, at your own pace. My route is a starting point: leave out what does not appeal to you and add what you want to do, even if it is not in the route. Your dates are completely free. I give you my restaurant recommendations, but you choose completely freely where you eat. And I put every trip together personally, down to the last detail.
Do I travel in a group?
No. All our trips are private: you travel with your partner, family or friends, at your own pace. There are no fellow travellers you do not know and no fixed guide travels along.
Do I have to eat where you tell me?
No. I give you my restaurant recommendations, but you choose completely freely where you eat. I never send you somewhere because it earns me something. Breakfast is included, plus the meals at remote places with no alternative (such as a safari lodge, desert camp or yurt camp); the trip page shows per day what is included.
When can I leave?
Whenever you like. Your dates are completely free; you start on the day that suits you. For each route we give the best months as advice. If you want to travel in another period, we tell you honestly what to expect.
How does changing a route work?
Every destination has a recommended route I put together personally. It is a starting point: leave out what does not appeal to you and add what you want to do. You can add or drop days, change the order, choose other hotels or replace activities. You can already pass on your wishes via the interest list; at launch you receive a tailored, no-obligation proposal.
Self-drive or a private driver: which should I choose?
With self-drive your rental car is waiting and all hotels and activities are booked in advance; you drive the route at your own pace, with our route notes and tips. With a private driver you do not have to drive yourself: a driver or private transfers take you from place to place, with domestic flights or trains where that makes sense. On routes where self-drive is unrealistic or unsafe (traffic, tracks, border crossings) we only offer the private driver and explain why. You can also combine both.
What do Budget, Comfort and Premium mean?
They are three accommodation levels on the same route. Budget: simple, clean hotels and guesthouses. Comfort: characterful mid-range hotels. Premium: the best places available locally. Each trip describes what to expect at each level. You can mix too, for example Comfort with one Premium stay.
Do I travel with a guide?
No, not by default: you travel independently. Only where it is compulsory (for example a park ranger, or a trek where a guide is required by law) is a guide part of your trip. Prefer a guide? I can add a local guide to any activity. The trip page lists the possible guided moments.
Are the prices on the website final?
No. All prices are indicative estimates, not an offer: per person, based on 2 travellers sharing a room, excl. international flight. With four travellers the price per person drops; solo travellers pay a supplement. Hotel and flight prices change; after launch you receive a no-obligation proposal with the price of that moment.
Is the flight included?
Prices on the site exclude the international flight. After launch I will also book your flight for you. For each trip you can already see roughly what a flight from Brussels costs, depending on the month.
What will be arranged on arrival?
At launch: you are met at the airport and taken to your first hotel, or shown to your rental car. On your last day the transfer back is arranged.
What if something goes wrong along the way?
At launch: you call or message my personal 24/7 number (+32 475 23 18 45). No call centre: you reach someone who knows your trip. As the organiser of your package, Steennot Travels will then also be legally obliged to assist you.
How will payment work?
Today you pay nothing: the interest list is free and without obligation. At launch: you only pay once you have agreed to a proposal, and the payment terms will then be in your contract and the travel conditions.
Is my money protected?
Today you pay nothing. Under the Belgian law of 21 November 2017 every package travel organiser must be insured against insolvency. Steennot Travels will only sell trips once that insurance is in force; the insurer's details will then be on this website.
Do I need travel insurance?
At launch: for trips outside Europe I will ask you to have travel assistance insurance covering medical costs and repatriation for the whole trip. I strongly recommend cancellation insurance. None of these insurances is part of the trip price.
What about travel advice and safety?
I closely follow the travel advice of the Belgian FPS Foreign Affairs. I do not offer destinations for which travel is advised against. That is why Jordan is currently on hold. At launch: if the advice changes after you have booked, I contact you about alternatives or cancellation.
I travel alone, or with children. Is that possible?
Yes. You can travel from 1 person; because you do not share the room and transport, a supplement applies that is shown per trip. For families we adapt the pace, the rooms and the activities to the ages. Tell us the ages in your request.
Do I need a visa or vaccinations?
It depends on the country. You find a first overview in the practical information of each trip. For vaccinations, also consult a travel clinic or your GP.
