Why 9 to 12 months?
Our honeymoons take in the finest stays on the route: boutique hotels, lodges and villas, often with only a handful of rooms. Those fill up first, especially in high season. Flights also tend to have more availability early on. And you have time for visas, vaccinations and leave, without stress just before the wedding.
A timeline from idea to departure
12 to 9 months before: choose. Decide when you want to leave and for how long. See which destination is at its best then; read the best time by wedding month. Request a proposal. Within 48 hours you get a personal proposal with route, stays and estimated price.
9 to 6 months before: confirm. You fine-tune the proposal with us: an extra day here, a different romantic moment there. Then the stays and the international flight are arranged. I'm happy to book the flight for you, or you book it yourself.
6 to 3 months before: practicalities. Check your passports are valid. Ask a travel clinic about vaccinations and malaria, especially for Tanzania and Zanzibar. Take out travel insurance.
3 months to 2 weeks before: visas and details. Apply for a visa where needed, such as the ETA for Sri Lanka or the visa for Tanzania. You receive the practical details of the trip.
During the trip: my number is always at hand, before and during the trip.
By destination: where to plan extra early?
- Tanzania safari & Zanzibar: the best months (June to October) are also high season. Tented lodges in the Serengeti have few tents.
- São Tomé & Príncipe: there are only a few flights a week, usually via Lisbon. We match your dates to the flights.
- Sri Lanka & Maldives: January to March is the best season, and overwater villas go fast.
- Bali & Komodo: July and August are the busiest months; flights cost more then too.
- Mexico – Yucatán and Costa Rica: the Christmas period is busy; plan in time.
What if it needs to be sooner?
It often still works. There are no fixed departure dates, and every route is a starting point. If a stay is full, we find another that suits the route. Just tell us your dates.
Leaving after the wedding?
Many couples don't leave straight after the party. They wait a few months for the best season of their dream destination. Getting married in September and dreaming of the Maldives? Then January to March is the moment. That way you plan calmly, without rushing.
